“Teaching News Literacy in the Age of AI”
Young people today are dealing with an overwhelmingly complex information landscape; one where digital tools and social media platforms make the search for truth, evidence and facts an incredibly challenging task. In this ISTE book, readers will learn how to teach digital verification skills across subject areas in the age of AI, explore free digital tools and resources available, and learn how to easily integrate news literacy across subject areas and grade levels. Concrete concepts, tools, strategies and lesson plan ideas are highlighted to help educators spark meaningful classroom discussion and empower students to evaluate, interpret and synthesize information in today’s digital world. Pushing students beyond the concept of “fake news,” to read and view carefully and think critically is more important than ever. News literacy skills are at the heart of ISTE’s Knowledge Constructor Standard, and that Standard, along with others, are connected in each chapter’s learning activities to help educators successfully align exemplary learning activities in their classrooms and learning spaces.
